Dr Rebecca Clark
Principal Investigator
Dr Clark is responsible for the PI oversight and general leadership of the site. With almost 10 years experience as PI on commercial clinical trials and as an NHS GP, she has led in excess of 50 Phase 3 trials across a range of morbidities. COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Lipids and CV health make up the bulk of her experience but more recently she has led 4 vaccine trials including 2 urgent public health studies during the Covid19 pandemic.
She is a Deputy Specialty Lead for Primary Care within the NIHR’s North West Coast Clinical Research Network and also sits on the Partnership Board of the CRN.
She is passionate about access to clinical trials for the deprived population in which she works and is proud to have achieved several global firsts and along side her award winning team is regularly amongst the top recruiting sites for the trials she runs.
Since 2020 Dr Clark has worked in an honorary capacity alongside the NIHR PRC based at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust and works on large scale trials as PI in collaboration with her own team at FCCR.
Dr Sarah Shaw
Investigator
Dr Shaw is the senior partner at Layton Medical Centre, the NHS practice which houses Fylde Coast Clinical Research. She works as sub-Investigator on all the clinical research trials and oversees the NHS practice in conjunction with this role.
Dr Shaw is also responsible for the training and education of junior doctors and medical students, as well as being the governance, safeguarding and performance lead.
Mandy Chalk
Site Co-ordinator/Lead Research Nurse
Mandy joined the team in 2014 from a background in hospital nursing. As well as running the research organisation with Dr Clark, she's also finding time to undertake a professional doctorate with her own research in cardiopulmonary resusitation.
Etain Ni Chleirigh
Research Practitioner/Midwife
With degrees in both psychology and midwifery, Etty has joined the team with an unrivalled ability to establish effective and enduring relationships with the participants of our trials which is key for long term retention outcomes. With a fastidious attention to detail, she leads the day to day study visits alongside the nursing/data team.

Whilst the clinicians in the team focus on patient care, Nick leads the data and admin processes. Nick works alongside our CRAs at site monitoring vists to ensure the highest quality data for each study.
